Bobo's Living

For the last two days we've been shadowing the classes we're going to be taking over.  I start teaching on Friday and Ben doesn't start for another week.  Our hours are pretty good in the sense that we have all morning to do as we please... so far these have been verrrry long mornings because the jet lag struggle is very real. Needless to say we are up and out super early. (Interesting fact: Koreans are not morning people.  The city is very peaceful in the morning and most business don't open until 10am!)
We've been trying to get all settled in our apartment and have been exploring our neighbourhood quite a bit!

This is our building!  Its called The Bobo's Building.   Our apartment is fairly small but the building is new and it has everything we need. I'll post pictures inside once everything is all set up.

As pictured right across the street is a beautiful park with a load of trails, outdoor gyms, badminton courts, an outside concert stadium and I'm sure much more that we haven't reached yet.

The cherry blossom trees are in full bloom, so beautiful!  They smell awesome, definitely not missing the snowy spring of Canada!

On the other side of our apartment is a mini downtown strip of restaurants, bars, stores and a subway stop. We basically are in the perfect location having the best of both worlds!

Groceries are relatively expensive here and if you eat Korean it is definitely cheaper to eat out than to cook.  We've went out with fellow teachers the last 2 nights for our first real authentic Korean meals and they were a  huge success...even for Ben!
Here's what we ate tonight!  I can't spell what its called in Korean (YET!!!) but its basically kimchi, chicken, sweet potato, cabbage and a few other things cooked on the table in front of us as we sit cross legged on the ground...with no shoes on.

  2. Haha "even for Ben", love it. The building looks pretty new...as does everything else! Is that a fact or is it just super clean and modern looking? I think as I read this blog I will be realizing how uncultured I really am....
